Obituary: Lawrence “Lonny” Ralph Stridsberg

December 9, 2025Lawrence “Lonny”' Stridsberg, 78, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Waterbury Center with his family by his side. Born on August 30, 1947, in Barre City, he was the son of the late Lawrence M. and Velma M. (Sawyer) Stridsberg.

He married Carolee A. Percy on September 18th, 1971, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Montpelier.
Lonny grew up in a large family in Randolph. When he was 17, his family moved to Montpelier. As a young man, he worked different jobs; he worked for his father-in-law Cecil Percy in his construction and roofing company. For the bulk of his working years, he was employed at two main jobs: he worked Security for the National Life Insurance Company in Montpelier for 36 years, and he was also a school bus driver for the Harwood Union School District for 40 years. He retired in 2020.
He was a member of the Central Vermont Amateur Radio Club, and he enjoyed connecting with people near and far. Hunting was another activity he enjoyed spending time with friends and family at his deer camp in Moretown and camping trips to Maine with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolee Stridsberg of Waterbury Center; his daughter Barbara Catchapaw and her husband Robert, of Moretown; his six grandchildren, Ashley Catchapaw and her partner Nick Baker, Jessica Catchapaw, Jamie Catchapaw, Robert Catchapaw and his partner Reaunna, Steven Peck, and Thomas Peck and his wife Genevieve; great-granddaughter Alicia Baker; three sisters, Amanda Bombardier, Catherine Boisvert and her partner Ken, and Theresa Fluery; four brothers, Michael Stridsberg and his wife Pat, Leslie Stridsberg and his wife Norma, Tim Stridsberg and his wife Ginette, and Joseph Stridsberg and his wife Diane; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Alice M. Monroe and Birgitta A. Gaskell.
A graveside service to celebrate Lonny’s life will be held at the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center on May 30, 2026, at 1 p.m. For those who wish, a memorial contribution in memory of Lonny may be made to Bayada Home Health Care, Donations, P.O.
