Obituary: Sidnia L. Gordon
July 10, 2026Sidnia L. Gordon, 84, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, Sidnia was the daughter of the late Dr. C.B. Orton and Agnes L. (Schoolcraft) Orton. She grew up in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury High School, Class of 1960.
Sidnia lived a remarkable and interesting life filled with unique experiences and memorable stories. Having spent most of her years in Waterbury, she became a familiar and beloved presence in the community she called home. For many years, she resided at the Kirby House on South Main Street, where she formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of many.
A faithful member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury, Sidnia found strength and comfort in her faith throughout her life.
She was truly a one-of-a-kind person, known for her individuality, spirit, and unforgettable personality. Her presence could brighten a room, and her unique way of seeing the world left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Sidnia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her beloved daughter. While her family circle was marked by loss, her memory will remain a treasured gift to those who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury. Following the Mass, Sidnia will be laid to rest beside her parents in Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center.
Though she is gone from our sight, Sidnia's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her 84 years.
