Elaine Dale Siegel, 82, of the Simmons Road, Mooers, New York, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in New Rochelle, New York, on November 26, 1943, the daughter of Marion and Elaine (Coon) Orts.
Dale grew up in Ossining, New York, and graduated from Ossining High School in 1961. She spent the majority of her life in Bolton, Vermont, before relocating to Mooers, New York, in recent years.
She married M. Peter Siegel on September 21, 1963, in the Highland Avenue Methodist Church in Ossining.
Dale worked at Smilie Elementary School in Bolton. She also served her community as an EMT in Brewster, New York, and as an active supporter of both the Bolton and Waterbury fire departments in Vermont.
A dedicated mother to her four children, she poured love into her family and community alike. For many years, she was the familiar, welcoming face at the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters factory store, greeting everyone with her signature warmth. She was a passionate patriot who loved her country and a proud, longtime member of the Waterbury Grange. An avid animal lover and an outdoor enthusiast at heart, she found great joy in snowmobiling through winters and caring for all creatures great and small.
Left to cherish the memory of Dale are, her loving husband of 63 years, M. Peter Siegel; siblings, Pamela (James) Siegel, and Ronald (Susan) Orts; children, Marsha (Thomas) May, and Marcie (Stephen) DiEgidio; granddaughter, Emily Jean (Zachary) Wesson; great-grandchildren, Payton Wesson and Walker Wesson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at the Maple Street Cemetery, 380 Maple Street, Waterbury Center, Vermont. A local luncheon will follow the interment, with details to be announced at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the nonprofit animal shelter, North Country Animal League, 16 Mountain View Meadow Road, Morrisville, VT 05661.
Dale’s family wishes to offer a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the home health aides, hospice nurses, and care providers. Their unwavering compassion, dedication, and loving care provided immeasurable comfort to Dale and our entire family during her final days.
