Open Houses: MakerSphere invites the community to visit on April 12

MakerSphere invites the community to come take a look around its new woodshop and updated creative studio spaces in Waterbury Center at a double open house on Sunday, April 12. 

The local creative arts organization moved into new space last fall after outfitting the former Waterbury Ambulance Service station near the town highway garage at 1727 Guptil Road to house the new MakerSphere woodshop. 

Nearby at 201 Hollow Road, MakerSphere’s stained-glass and pottery studios are located at the historic Seminary Building, where both spaces have been recently upgraded.

The new woodshop location offers ample room for MakerSphere’s woodworking equipment and tools for programs to serve hands-on beginners, hobbyists and do-it-yourselfers. Anyone interested in woodworking, power-tool fundamentals, or joining a class is invited to check out the facility. 

Visitors to the open houses in both locations will have the chance to meet students and instructors, view demonstrations, and learn more about upcoming workshops and community programs. 

“Our goal has always been to provide a place where creativity can flourish,” said Kate Shaw, MakerSphere board president. “The new woodshop and enhanced studios allow us to offer even more opportunities for people to learn new skills, express themselves, and build community.”

The open houses on April 12 are free and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in both locations: woodshop at 1727 Guptil Road; stained-glass and pottery studios at 201 Hollow Road.

Open house attendees will receive a 15% discount when registering for any program at the event. Families, beginners, and experienced makers are all welcome.

The nonprofit MakerSphere organization serves Waterbury and surrounding communities, fostering creative skills in the arts, crafts and trades with educational opportunities and workspaces for all ages. More information: makerspherevt.com.
