The Children’s Room is set to rock Beard’s Barn at Sunday’s Barn Dance

Families with children in the preschool set have a big event this weekend as The Children’s Room hosts its annual Barn Dance & Harvest Fest.

The venue once again is Beard’s Barn at 1601 Barnes Hill Road in Waterbury Center on Sunday, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The annual fall event is for families with young children, friends and neighbors with music and games, snacks, pony rides, crafts, face-painting, and more. This year, live music will be by the band “Prohibition Pickers.” Sunday’s event will include a pie contest, so all attendees are invited to bring a pie to enter (and eat).

Suggested donation: $25 per family by cash, check or Venmo. Anyone who is unable to attend but who would like to support The Children’s Room can do so online or by check. (Details on their website childrensroomonline.org.)

Located in Brookside Primary School, The Children’s Room serves families with children from infants through age 6 as a place to meet, play and learn. With regular hours that follow the school calendar, the room is a place for parents and caregivers to bring little ones for informal playtime, organized playgroups and activities and to find parenting resources, all for free.

The annual Barn Dance is the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser of the year.
