Middle school actors, singers, and crew are working hard in preparation to present “Mean Girls, Jr.” Friday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 7, on the Harwood stage.

Crossett Brook Middle School Music Teacher and Co-Director Molly Dubois said more than 70 students from Crossett Brook and Harwood middle schools are involved in the production, both on stage in the cast and behind the scenes as crew members. Dubois and Harwood Music Teacher Molly Desrochers are co-directing.

The one-act musical comedy is appropriate for all ages. It tells the story made popular by the 2004 “Mean Girls” film, in which the lead character Cady Heron is the new girl at North Shore High School in Chicago. It follows her as she makes her way toward fitting in and finding friends and navigating the popular and controlling Regina George “Queen Bee.”

The production will be presented at Harwood Union Middle/High School with performances on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. (No show on Dec. 6 given the River of Light parade in Waterbury).

Admission will be by donation at the door. A bake sale will follow the shows with proceeds supporting the middle school theater program.
