  • Park Row/Rotarian Place: Milling has been done in preparation for paving, which Interim Town Manager Bill Woodruff says is expected to be done early this week, weather permitting. Following paving, lines will be added.

  • Barnes Hill Road: Paving work is scheduled as well, weather permitting.

  • Main Street: Sweeping will take place prior to Saturday’s Not Quite Independence Day footrace and parade.

  • Across town: The town highway crew will be making repairs to minor damage from Thursday’s heavy rains to various roads around town. Roadside mowing and grading also may be done if weather permits.

Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Richmond, southbound

This project involves resurfacing 15.6 miles along the southbound side of Interstate 89 between now and October, according to the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

The project spans from mile marker 63 (which is 0.8 mi. south of Waterbury’s Exit 10) to mile marker 78.6 (0.5 mi. north of Exit 11 in Richmond). It will include the on- and off-ramps at both the Exit 10 (Waterbury) and Exit 11 (Richmond) interchanges.

Milling the old pavement has begun from the Richmond end and will proceed south.

This week, Monday-Friday, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., motorists can expect one-lane of travel beginning at Mile Marker 74 near Exit 11 in Richmond, south to Exit 10 in Waterbury throughout the week. Expect slow-moving travel, uneven lanes and milled surfaces.

The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled. Motorists might consider using U.S. Route 2 in this stretch to avoid the interstate delays.  To receive weekly email updates about this project, sign up using this online form
