Road Work | Week of Aug. 30-Sept. 4

Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.
Waterbury
Waterbury Highway Department Supervisor Celia Clark says that local crews will be working on ditches along Maggie’s Way and Ripley Road this week. Motorists are asked to slow down near work areas and to give the crews space.
Stowe
Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 2, River Road in Stowe will be closed to through traffic for several culvert replacements. Crews will begin with the culvert near 80 River Road and work their way towards Moscow Road over the following two weeks. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this project.
Bolton
Paving and final work on Duxbury Road continues this week between Honey Hollow Road and the Bolton/Duxbury town line. The project is completing repairs to the road section damaged in a storm earlier this summer. One lane will remain open through the paving work, but motorists should expect some short delays. Updates will be posted here, on the town website, the Town of Bolton Facebook page, and Front Porch Forum.
Interstate 89 | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound

For this resurfacing project, paving of the leveling (first) course has been done on the Exit 10 southbound ramps in Waterbury and along the main travel lanes. Guardrail work continues.
The upcoming work schedule, from Sunday, Aug. 30, through Friday, Sept. 4, will involve multiple nights with night work.
Sunday through Wednesday 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Milling within the Exit 11 area in Richmond.
Thursday 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: RAMP CLOSURES will be in effect for milling work at Exit 11 in Richmond. Only emergency vehicles will have access to the ramps during this time.
Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday 6 a.m. to noon: Daytime crews will continue putting down the final paving layer. Guardrail work also will continue.
Reminders: Do not follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph; fines will be doubled.
Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound
The resurfacing project on Interstate 89 southbound between Waterbury and Montpelier is nearly complete.
This past week, crews continued work on plug joints on the bridges and completed median reflectors. Guardrail upgrades also continued.
The work schedule for Monday, Aug. 31, to Thursday, Sept. 3, is 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 4, schedule is 6:30 a.m. to noon.
Crews will be working on general project cleanup.
Motorists should expect minor delays during working hours due to intermittent southbound lane closures from Exit 10 in Waterbury to Exit 8 in Montpelier. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph, and fines will be doubled.
