Road Work | Week of June 29 - July 3

Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.


Bolton

ROAD CLOSURE: Duxbury Road in Bolton will be closed to all traffic from Friday, June 26 until Monday June 29, according to town officials. 

A recent washout during heavy rainstorms caused is uner repair and evaluation. 

This affects the stretch between the Long Trail footbridge over the Winooski River and the intersection with Honey Hollow Road. 

Local officials say that all residents in the area have access.

Waterbury

Waterbury Highway Department Manager Celia Clark says the town road crew will be working Monday-Thursday this week. No large projects are scheduled. Be alert and use caution around crews working on clearing ditches, grading and roadside mowing, weather permitting.


Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound

Crews continue to put down the final pavement layer in the southbound stretch between Exit 10 in Waterbury and Exit 8 in Montpelier. 

Motorists should continue to expect major delays during weekday working hours due to multiple southbound lane closures. Drivers also should anticipate traveling on uneven lanes and milled surfaces. 

For the week of June 26-July 3, the work schedule Monday through Wednesday will be 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Thursday’s schedule is 5:30 a.m. to noon. No work on Friday. 

In addition to paving, crews will continue installing shoulder material and delineators in the project zone. 

The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.


Interstate 89 Southbound | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound

This resurfacing project is underway with milling of old pavement in progress and paving of the first pavement layer starting as well. 

Work this week between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. will mean one lane of travel open in southbound sections between Exit 11 in Richmond and Exit 10 in Waterbury during working hours. Motorists should anticipate slow travel, uneven lanes and milled surfaces. 

Work is scheduled Monday-Wednesday, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday 6 a.m. to noon. No work on Friday. 

The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
