This week: Rt. 100 night bridge work begins near I-89 Exit 10
April 6, 2026 | By Waterbury RoundaboutUpdate April 20: Contractors on this project have been working mostly weeknights between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. The final phase will involve paving, tentatively scheduled for this Friday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Watch signs in the work zone for timely updates.
Work is weather-dependent, of course. Use caution in the work zone when traffic is reduced to a single lane.
Motorists will notice new electronic signboards on Vermont Route 100 near the Interstate 89 on/off ramps. They are alerting drivers to night work scheduled to begin today, April 6.
The Agency of Transportation says workers will be on site on weeknights to complete a project they began in November and halted due to wintry weather conditions.
The work will be done during overnight shifts between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily. The stretch of Rt. 100 at the interchange involving the bridge over the interstate will be reduced to one travel lane for the work to proceed.
The project involves removing the median to facilitate the movement of traffic for times when the roadway is down to one lane. Additional bridge maintenance involves concrete repairs to the deck and multiple bridge joints, according to VTrans Project Manager for Bridge Maintenance Jeremy Salvatori.
He stressed that the work continues to be weather-dependent. “The contractor’s schedule is to have the work completed by the end of the month, but realistically, the completion could be mid-May,” he explained.
Crews will work daily, Monday-Friday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. until it is completed. Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists through alternating one-way traffic. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the nighttime project zone.
