LETTER: Neighbors discuss democracy

January 20, 2026

To the Community:

We had a small group at our community meeting Thursday night, but had a great conversation!

And, as I guessed, we have a lot more in common than what separates us. All agreed that we would like to meet again next month. If you were not able to join us, I hope that you might consider joining us next time.

A lot is happening right now, and it is more important than ever to stay informed and stay engaged.

If you do not receive emails from 50501, here is the Jan. 16 newsletter. It has a great deal of important information on how to take action and to know your rights.

This video goes into detail about how both the right and the left are viewing, discussing and analyzing the Jan. 7 shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. And this Substack post from Truth Matters highlights the importance of supporting reliable sources of news such as PBS News Hour.

As always, your neighbor and friend,

Carol Baitz
