LETTER: We need Governor Janoo

October 28, 2026

To the Community:

Throughout this election season, Phil Scott has demonstrated what many of us have seen so clearly, especially over the last four years: Gov. Scott is tired, and we need change!

His top-down management style was exactly what we needed during COVID. His plan to consolidate schools to reduce property taxes had to be played out. (Many studies, reports and failed efforts later, more of us now know what educators have always known: Schools cannot be run like businesses.)

Continually blaming Democratic (sometimes super) legislative majorities for a glaring inability to get “his agenda” passed is undemocratic.

I could go on, but this is not a year in which there is “no good alternative.”

In my view, Amanda Janoo is exactly the right leader for this moment!

She recognizes we are at a critical juncture. She refuses to accept that we have to lose what we love about Vermont in order to afford to live here. She knows we do not have an urban-rural divide: All of Vermont faces challenges. Our population is such that we only have one Congressional representative, but our size does not negate our generations of experience in crossing mountains and ideological divides and working together to solve problems.

We need someone as governor who knows how to grow our economy back to health by capitalizing on our strengths as a citizenry. Collectively, we have the knowledge, skills and determination to turn ideas into action!

We need Governor Janoo!
