LETTER: ‘No Kings 3’ thanks and more ahead from Indivisible Mad River Valley

March 31, 2026 | By Callie Willis

To the Community:

On Saturday, March 28, 8 million Americans took to the streets in a nationwide act of mass defiance – No Kings 3 Day. Here in Vermont, some 50 events – nearly one in every county – occurred over the course of the day. Right here in Waitsfield, we counted 500 creative, energetic, and enthusiastic protesters, who turned out to make a statement loud and clear and push back against the authoritarian regime that is the present Trump administration.

Indivisible Mad River Valley hosted this rally. We send big thank yous out to the many people behind the scenes who stepped up to keep the event safe and running smoothly, to the people and local press who helped get the word out, those folks who captured the rally on camera, all the community members who made and brought amazing signs and banners, terrific businesses who offered support, and finally to the volunteer who rang the Village Meeting House bell promptly at 1:00, in an audible gesture of solidarity with surrounding towns simultaneously ringing bells.

So many people came forward to help make this event a success. This community turned out with classic Mad River Valley Flair! Kudos and our gratitude to all!

You are probably wondering what you can do next, how to carry this good energy forward. Our democracy is still very much at risk and all of us can do more to change the course of our nation's future for the better. Please consider tapping into your local Indivisible family: There are a variety of ways to be involved, from post-carding, phone and text-banking, to further honing your protest skills, artivism and activism, connecting with legislators and/or contributing financially.

Email indivisiblemrv@gmail.com with questions or to volunteer, or better yet, Indivisible Mad River Valley invites you to join our next meeting on Monday, April 6, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Waitsfield Unitarian Church.

For additional ways to make a positive difference, VPIRG has created this resource list of Action Items and contacts.

Thank you!
