Civil Air Patrol hosts Open House Sept. 29 at Knapp Airport

The Vermont Civil Air Patrol invites the community to an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Edward F. Knapp State Airport in Berlin.

The air patrol particularly encourages young people to attend the event which provides an opportunity for students and their families to learn about the Civil Air Patrol and what it has to offer to both members and communities.

Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer organization and the official civilian auxiliary of the Department of the U.S. Air Force with tens of thousands of members across the globe. Its Cadet Program offers young people ages 12 to 21 a chance to explore personal development in aerospace education, emergency services preparedness, leadership training, and physical fitness – all while building a network of friendships and strengthening their self-confidence.

The open house is free to attend and will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It will include exhibits, STEM activities, aircraft to see up close and flight simulators to try; a cadet drill demonstration, and air patrol members to talk about careers.
