For Vermont dogs and their owners, it’s that time of year as the deadline to license dogs in Vermont approaches.
In Waterbury, all dogs ages 6 months and older are required to be licensed through the town clerk.
Licenses are good for the calendar year, and fees go up after April 1.
To get a license, the dog owner must present a certificate showing that the animal has a valid rabies vaccine. A certificate on file from the prior year is accepted if the immunization is still current.
The license fee may be paid by cash or check made out to: “Town of Waterbury.”
Fees for neutered/spayed dogs are $15 through April 1; $20 after April 1.
Fees for not neutered/spayed dogs are $20 through April 1; $25 after April 1.
Reminder: The town offices, including the town clerk, are currently closed on Thursdays.
Town Clerk Beth Jones says dog owners may drop off their license payments in the drop box near the municipal building entry. She can mail the license and new tag. Be sure to include a copy of the pet’s rabies certificate if it is new and is not on file from last year.
