Performances are at 7 p.m. both nights and at 2 p.m. on Saturday with a cast consisting of six high school students from several area schools including Harwood Union and People’s Academy.
Based on the characters of the classic comics by Charles Schultz, the 1967 musical (which was revived and updated in 1999) portrays life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the “Peanuts” gang as they explore life’s great questions. The story follows them as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes and celebrate the joy of friendship.
This production’s collection of songs and vignettes comes together as the finale of a two-week summer program where the student participants have designed and created sets, costumes, lighting, and learned about stage management, pit band playing, and all of the elements of putting on a musical.
Directing is Molly Mitchell with Music Director Stefanie Weigand and Choreographer Taryn Noelle. Word has it that at each performance, the cast will raffle off two handmade stuffed Woodstock toys made by the actor playing Snoopy.
This is an all-ages show. Tickets: $5 suggested donation online or at the door. A “full-priced” $25 ticket contribution helps support the Stowe Children’s Theatre scholarship fund to provide access to all students regardless of their family's ability to pay. Stowe Children’s Theatre produces educational theatre programming for kids under 18.
