Road Work | Week of Aug. 3-7

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.

Stowe

Stowe Hollow Road will continue to be closed between Cross Road and the intersection of Upper Hollow Road for a culvert replacement project. This is the second planned week of the project, which is expected to wrap up this week.
Emily’s Bridge at the intersection of Covered Bridge Road, Stowe Hollow Road, and Gold Brook Road will also be closed to vehicular traffic during the Stowe Hollow Road closure, according to town officials.
Motorists are asked to plan accordingly and use an alternate route.
Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound

In the past week, crews have continued installing pavement markings, shoulder material and shoulder rumble strips.
In the week ahead, motorists should expect minor delays during working hours due to southbound lane closures between Exit 10 in Waterbury and Exit 8 in Montpelier.
The anticipated work schedule, Monday-Friday, will be from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crews will continue with installation of shoulder material. They will be removing temporary pavement markings and, weather permitting, will work on installing permanent pavement markings near the ramps. They also will be installing various signs along the project route.
Reminder: The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.

Interstate 89 Southbound | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound
Last week, milling and guardrail work continued on this resurfacing project along Interstate 89 southbound between Exit 11 in Richmond and Exit 10 in Waterbury. For this week, motorists can expect one-lane travel between Exits 11 and 10, with occasional northbound closures at the U-turns during working hours.
Motorists are urged to use both lanes to the merge point and should anticipate slow-moving travel and milled surfaces.
This week, the work schedule is Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Crews will be working on guardrails, shoulders and structure height adjustments throughout the project area.
Drivers are reminded not to follow construction vehicles into the work zone. Also, the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph in work areas, and fines are doubled.
