Ongoing snowy conditions have made travel around Vermont challenging this week. On Wednesday alone through 3 p.m. Vermont State Police reported responding to 44 mishaps with vehicles due to slippery roads.

This Washington Central school bus went off the road on Vermont Route 12 in Middlesex. Fortunately, it was not carrying students at the time. The driver suffered only minor injuries. Of Wednesday’s 44 crashes, 29 were in northern Vermont and 15 in southern Vermont; 14 happened on interstate highways and 30 on secondary roads, according to Vermont State Police. No significant injuries were reported in that time.

With plenty of winter driving season still ahead, troopers remind motorists to slow down, leave extra time to reach your destination, allow plenty of room to stop, and be sure to wear seatbelts.
