Vermont State Police have cited drivers for DUI in two recent separate single-vehicle crashes.

On Sunday at approximately 12:40 p.m., Jason D. Demer, 56, of Duxbury, was involved in a rollover crash on U.S. 2 in Marshfield. The investigation determined that Demer, who was driving a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek,  “was operating his motor vehicle negligently while impaired by alcohol,” according to a report by Trooper Alexis Marciniak.

The road was wet at the time, and Demer was wearing a seatbelt. Demer had minor injuries and was checked out by EMS at the scene, but was not taken to the hospital, Marciniak said.

At the Berlin state police barracks, he was issued a citation to report to Washington Superior Court Criminal Division on June 25 to answer to charges of negligent operation and driving under the influence, police said.

In a separate crash in Moretown on Monday, state police cited 23-year-old Sydney Lachapelle, of Rochester, New Hampshire, for driving under the influence after a crash on Vermont Route 100B in Moretown, according to Vermont State Police.

That incident happened at 6:45 p.m. when Lachapelle’s 2017 Nissan Sentra crashed into a guardrail. The vehicle was totaled, police said. Lachapelle was not injured; the police report did not note whether Lachapelle was wearing a seat belt.

Police said Lachapelle was transported to the Berlin barracks and issued a citation for driving under the influence, and to appear in Washington Superior Court Criminal Division on June 25.
