LETTER: Amanda Janoo’s Tunbridge World’s Fair interview deserves a listen

Please do yourself the favor of listening to this gubernatorial “debate” from the Tunbridge World's Fair.
Amanda Janoo, the Democratic candidate for governor, was the only participant because Gov. Phil Scott refused the opportunity to honor the decades-old tradition of WDEV’s live debate broadcast from the fair. As a result, Janoo had over an hour to describe her platform and how it will work to ensure the resilience of Vermont’s small towns and farms in the face of all the challenges we face as a state.
Her answers are clear and detailed, responding to all the hot-button issues and describing why she believes Vermont has everything needed to address them, as well as how she intends to get it done.
As opposed to Phil Scott's outdated trickle-down economics, the comprehensive economic vision Janoo lays out focuses on reorganizing the investment of state funds to support Vermont’s local, entrepreneurial businesses, strengthen our farm communities, and energize the culture of community support we all value in order to grow more robust local economies from the ground up, ensuring long-term resilience in the process.
As a woman who began life as a Vermont farm girl and went on to become a Fulbright Scholar with a master’s degree in Development Economics from Cambridge, then successfully used that knowledge to build coalitions that implemented this economic model elsewhere, she now wants to bring her skills home to Vermont.
