LETTER: Man Without a Plan

Gov. Phil Scott’s strategy of flying below the radar so that the Trump administration doesn’t notice us is not a plan and doesn’t work. The president’s policies affect all of us whether he mentions Vermont or not.
For example, around 50,000 Vermonters are projected to lose Medicaid this coming January because of the cuts and policy changes in the president’s Big Beautiful Bill (HR 1). A large number of these will be older Vermonters and those with disabilities. This will affect all of us, not just Medicaid recipients. Our small rural hospitals rely on those Medicaid dollars to keep the lights on. What happens to everyday Vermonters if several rural hospitals close because of the cuts made to Medicaid so that billionaires could have yet another tax cut?
If you believe that Vermont needs a plan for how to deal with the consequences from the president’s ruthless policies, then this is not the year to vote for Phil Scott for governor.
