LETTER: Skatepark project aims to wrap-up fundraising with auction, brick sales, donations

May 10, 2025

To the Community:

The Waterbury Skatepark Coalition is making a big push to raise the final $15,000 so that the full design of the concrete skatepark can be built this summer at Hope Davey Park in Waterbury Center.

After five years of focus, determination and incredible community support, we are thrilled to be planning to break ground soon. A HUGE thank you to donors both local and afar, to businesses, to individuals honoring a loved one — thanks to fundraising events and grants, we have come a long way and the finish line is in sight.

The skatepark is a professionally designed space for everyone, of all ages and skill levels and a lasting asset for our community. Together we can achieve this goal and start skating again in Waterbury!

We invite friends and supporters, skateboarding enthusiasts and art lovers, to “Art Pop,” a special event on May 14 at Ranch Camp bike shop and tap room in Stowe. From 6 to 8 p.m., you can check out an exhibit and auction for 22 artist-designed skateboard decks as part of our final push to raise the remaining $15,000 for the project.

In addition, there are other ways the community can help us meet our goal:

1. Buy one of the 30 remaining engraved bricks that will be part of the park.

2. Send a check made to FORWARD-Waterbury Skatepark to P.O. Box 244, Waterbury Center, VT 05677

3. Donate online at waterburyskateparkvt.org. All donations are tax-deductible.

4. Become a business sponsor. Email waterburyskatepark@gmail.com for details.

5. Spread the word and share the website link.

The African proverb, "When spiders unite, they can tie up a lion," emphasizes the power of unity and collaboration. Even small contributions can have a significant impact when combined with the whole.

As we approach the construction phase, we are stoked to bring this recreation asset to our community. We hope you agree.

With gratitude,

The Waterbury Skatepark Coalition
