With springtime in full swing, creatures of all sizes are up and active.

If you know where to look, like Roundabout contributor Shawnee Perry and photographer Gordon Miller, you just might find amphibians migrating to their favorite ponds, feathered species building nests where they’ll soon lay and hatch eggs, and you might even observe a mother black bear on an outing with her cubs, teaching them the ways of the forest.

Shawnee captured the scenes here from Duxbury and Moretown. Gordon’s porcupine, heron and blackbird were enjoying a spring day on Gregg Hill in Waterbury.
